Introducing "Rider Works"
Are you looking for new job skills? If so, the Rider Insurance Bleiwise Family Foundation is funding a pilot program open to all New Jersey Motorcyclists. We call it “Rider Works”. Rider understands that the economic downturn has affected our fellow riders, and we’ve partnered with the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce & Economic Development & Member Colleges to try to help you improve your economic prospects, at no cost to you. There are two parts of the program:
1. Lead & Safety Certification Training Package for Renovation, Repair & Painting
APPLICATION: Lead & Safety Certification Training (pdf)
This certification training package is for NJ renovation contractors, property owners, maintenance staff and building owners to meet training requirements of the State of New Jersey and the US EPA (Regulations on Residential Property Renovation 40 CFR 745.80 Subpart E), HUD. The certification will allow participants to perform construction / renovation work in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities, and schools.
Certification Training Package includes the following:
- EPA Renovator Initial Certificate (8 hours)
- NJ DCA Rules & Regulation Certification (1 hour)
Requirements
- Must be a NJ Contractor or owner of a multiple dwelling units.
- Completion of online application for eligibility purposes.
Training Facilities
- Any NJ County College Scheduled Course.

2. Education Grants
APPLICATION: Education Grants (pdf)
The grant program is designed to allow the unemployed or underemployed to select specific county college courses or certification programs that will provide them with the training needed to pursue the career of their choosing.
Requirements
- Completion of online application for eligibility purposes.
- Grant Proposal including the course or program request and the amount of funds requested.
